BarzegarRx was founded by Dr. Shahryar Barzegar, Pharm.D., to close the gap that prior authorizations open between pharmacies, prescribers, and the patients who need their medication.
His story
Shahryar Barzegar received his B.S. in Biochemistry from UCLA and his Doctorate in Pharmacy from California Northstate University. After a post-undergraduate externship at Beverly Hills Cancer Center, he followed his love for biochemistry and medicine into pharmacy, with a focus on pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, medication interactions, and pathophysiology.
After a year of medication reviews and antibiotic stewardship at Desert Valley Medical Center, he brought that expertise to the outpatient setting with one goal: preventing hospitalizations caused by drug and health related interactions. His experience spans hospital, specialty, and community practice, including Desert Valley Medical Center, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Beverly Hills Cancer Center, and major retail pharmacy chains.
Today he owns and operates an independent community pharmacy in Southern California. Every day he sees prior authorizations strand patients at the counter: the pharmacy waits on the office, the office waits on the plan, and the patient goes home without their medication. BarzegarRx is the service he wished existed, one that does the chasing so pharmacies, prescribers, and patients do not have to.
